Morocco has been removed from the grey list that warrants increased surveillance for money laundering and terrorism financing, said on Friday the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), after a two-day meeting in Paris.
According to this decision, the national jurisdictions are no longer subject to the FATF’s increased monitoring process, but will continue to work with the FATF-style regional body (FSRB) of which they are a member to further strengthen their AML/CFT regimes.
Paris-based FATF commended Morocco’s progress in improving its respective AML/CFT regimes covered by its individual action plans, in addition to efforts in addressing its technical deficiencies to meet commitments laid down in its action plan on strategic deficiencies that the FATF identified in 2019 and 2021.
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is an inter-governmental organization that underpins the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing by setting global standards and checking if countries respect them.
