Morocco expressed its deep concern over the escalation of the situation and the military action taking place in the Gaza Strip. The Kingdom condemned all attacks against civilians from both warrying parties, according to a Foreign Ministry statement issued on Saturday.
The Kingdom, which has repeatedly warned against the repercussions of a political stalemate on regional peace and the ensuing mounting tension, called for halting immediately all acts of violence, and averting all forms of escalation that could undermine peace in the region.
The Kingdom of Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI chairs the Al Quds Committee, emphasized that dialogue and negotiations remain the only way to achieve a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, based on international law and the two-state principle.
The Israeli military has declared a “state of war alert” on Saturday, after Palestinian Islamist Group Hamas fired a barrage of 5,000 rockets and sent fighters into “Israeli territory.”
Israel’s national rescue service said at least 70 people have been killed in the Hamas surprise attack, as reported by AP.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza affirmed that at least 198 people have been killed and at least 1,610 wounded as a result of Israel’s retaliation.
