Morocco and the United Kingdom assert that a two-state solution is the only realistic way to achieve peace and security in the Middle East–concluded Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, and the United Nations–while speaking yesterday in Rabat.
After conferencing with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Ahmad voiced in a statement to the press that the ultimate aim for promoting stability in the Middle East should be a two-state arrangement: an Israeli State living side-by-side with a Palestinian State in peace and security, according to the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).
Ahmad stressed that Rabat and London “…are going to work together towards this end,” alongside their major partners, such as the United States and Gulf nations, while admitting that “It is an uphill battle, but one should never give up on hope.”
The British minister addressed the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza in stating that Morocco and the UK will collaborate to resolve the issue, and further emphasized the bond between the two countries based on mutual trust and common interests.
The ministerial meeting also focused on areas of shared objectives and opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
