A group of 162 Senegalese migrants, who have been held in reception centers in southern Morocco since last month, will be deported to Senegal starting today, the Senegalese Press Agency (APS) reported on Monday.
“The 162 compatriots staying at the reception centers of Bir Gandouz and Argoub in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region of Morocco since the beginning of March 2024, will be repatriated to Senegal on Tuesday, April 9, 2024,” a diplomatic source told APS.
The APS received information indicating that the first convoy of these individuals is expected to arrive in Saint-Louis City, located in the northwest of Senegal, on Wednesday afternoon.
The second convoy, comprised of six women, an infant, and five convalescent patients, will depart from Dakhla on Thursday. They are expected to arrive on Friday afternoon in Saint-Louis, the Senegalese Consulate in Dakhla informed APS.
The Consulate confirmed that no other Senegalese nationals remain in Morocco awaiting repatriation after these deportations.
