Morocco stands as a “committed partner” and a peace promoter under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi said.
“A constructive partner within the IAEA, of which it has been a member since 1957, Morocco has always demonstrated compromise and commitment since the beginning of international cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and technologies,” Grossi underlined few days ahead of the 25th Throne Day anniversary .
“I can only commend Morocco’s commitment, and of course, the King, who provides the impetus,” Grossi said, stressing the Kingdom’s strong participation in numerous atomic-related topics.
Since King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne, “we have observed a strengthening” of this action, particularly through nuclear regulation, he stated.
He also emphasized the work of the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR) and the National Center for Energy, Sciences, and Nuclear Techniques (CNESTEN).
“Morocco maintains a National Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security, which collaborates with the IAEA. This is a distinction that the International Agency does not readily accord to partner national authorities,” Grossi stated.
The organization “carries out significant work and provides substantial support to African countries,” he concluded.
