A 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Morocco’s Northern city of Al Hoceima on Saturday evening, according to Volcano Discovery website.
The quake occurred at 8:56 p.m. (GMT +1) and was centered approximately 33 kilometers (21 miles) from the city.
The earthquake’s depth was recorded at 5.2 kilometers, making it very shallow. Despite its proximity and shallow depth, the tremor was not reported to have been felt by residents in the area.
Seismologists have indicated that such low-magnitude earthquakes typically do not cause significant damage or disruptions.
Moroccan authorities have not reported any damage or injuries related to the quake.
