The Paris Metropolitan Area recorded a significant influx of tourists, with some 1.73 million visitors during the first week of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, between July 26 and August 2.
The latest figures show an 18.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Paris tourism barometer.
The figures demonstrate that international tourists accounted for 924,000 of the arrivals, which represents a 13.9% year-on-year increase.
Parisian airports registered 100,000 passengers between July 24 and July 27, a 33% surge from the same period in 2023.
The peak number of visitors arrived on July 25, with 29,000 travelers reaching the city a day before the event’s opening ceremony.
The United States led international tourist arrivals with 136,000 visitors, accounting for 14.7% of the total.
Germany came in second with 61,000 tourists (6.6%), followed by Brazil with 51,000 tourists (5.5%). The United Kingdom ranked third with 47,000 tourists (5.1%), and Spain in fifth place with 28,000 tourists (3.1%).
