Morocco’s Meteorological Agency (DGM) is warning of significant weather changes including severe thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong winds over the weekend, in several provinces across the kingdom, according to the latest weather bulletin.
The provinces of Figuig, Errachidia, Zagora, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, and Tata are expected to experience inclement weather conditions, including heavy thunderstorms and rainfall ranging from 60 to 100 mm.
The meteorological conditions are anticipated to begin at 8:00 p.m. (GMT+1) on Saturday and continue until 11:00 p.m. on Sunday and have been classified under a red alert level by the DGM.
The same weather pattern, albeit at a reduced intensity of 20 to 50 mm of precipitation, is expected to affect the provinces of Assa-Zag and Es-Semara.
The weather forecast predicts rainfall between 30 and 60 mm in the provinces of Taroudant, Midelt, Azilal, Al Haouz, and Jerada from Saturday evening through Sunday night.
A lower rainfall forecast of 15 to 30 mm is predicted to reach the Larache and Tetouan provinces from 12:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, and the Ifrane, Boulemane, and Sefrou provinces from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., according to an amber weather alert.
