Rapper Taha Fahsi, known as ElGrandeToto, responded to former Prime Minister Benkirane’s recent attacks, rejecting any affiliation with political parties.
Benkirane had labeled Toto as “scum,” accusing him of misleading Moroccan youth and corrupting their morals through his influence.
In response, Toto performed at the opening of the The University of Free Youth for Akhannouch’s party, sparking further controversy.
Toto clarified on social media that his focus remains on music, not politics, distancing himself from any political agenda.
Production company Goats Productions also defended Toto, condemning Benkirane’s remarks as outdated and politically motivated.
The company praised Toto’s contributions to improving Morocco’s image internationally, calling him a positive cultural force.
Grande Toto received an eight-month suspended sentence from the Moroccan Court of First Instance in Casablanca in 2022 after stating at a press conference ahead of a music show that he uses cannabis.
The rapper was also ordered to pay a fine of MAD 10,000 (USD 984 approximately).
“I smoke Hash, so what?” he asked, adding that this does not qualify him as a “bad example.”
Later; Fahssi announced a cannabis-free lifestyle in his X account.
In the same event where Benkirane crashed Toto, he accused Akhannouch’s government of advancing an “occidental agenda” by normalizing homosexuality and extramarital relations.
He warned that such changes threaten Moroccan values, claiming the government is corrupting the country’s youth for future control.
Head of government Akhannouch countered these accusations by highlighting his government’s ethical standards and avoiding personal attacks.
Akhannouch emphasized his efforts to support widows, increasing the number receiving aid to 430,000, four times the previous amount.
Despite chants calling for Benkirane’s retirement, Akhannouch stated that Benkirane’s presence indicates political failure but welcomed it.
RNI members, including Rachid Talbi Alami, criticized Benkirane’s rhetoric, calling him a “prehistoric figure” clinging to the past.
Benkirane’s remarks also drew widespread reactions on social media, with some calling him a “court jester” seeking attention.
Supporters, however, defended his directness, praising his ability to confront perceived corruption and moral decay head-on.
