Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and her Senegalese counterpart, Daouda Ngom, Minister of Environment and Ecological Transition, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday in Rabat, to strengthen cooperation in the areas of sustainable development and energy transition.
The MoU prioritizes exchanging knowledge and technical assistance, enabling joint project development in critical sectors such as sustainable development governance, climate change, sustainable waste management, and the development of a circular economy.
Benali noted that this partnership exemplifies the strong ties between the two friendly countries.
She highlighted the agreement prioritizes environmental governance and the circular economy as a vital step towards strengthening collaboration. Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Ngom commended the long-standing friendly relations between Morocco and Senegal, stating that the accord will further facilitate collaboration on environmental governance, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity preservation.
The joint action plan from the MoU, “ensures cooperation in international environmental initiatives,” he added.
The minister and his delegation are scheduled to visit the “REUSE” wastewater treatment plant in Salé and the Koudia El Beida wind farm in Tangier to observe first-hand Morocco’s achievements in environmental protection, sustainable development, and renewable energy.
