Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication announced on Monday the launch of the 22nd edition of the National Press Grand Prize for 2024.
The award includes several categories, such as Best Television Program, Best Radio Program, Best Print Media, Best Online Media, Best News Agency, Best Regional Press, Best Amazigh Journalistic Production, Best Coverage of Sahrawi Culture, Best Photography, Best Investigative Journalism, and Best Caricature, according to the ministry.
The program will also include an honorary award recognizing a distinguished figure who has made significant contributions to the evolution of the Moroccan media landscape and upheld the noble principles of the profession. Another award will recognize Moroccan journalists working for foreign media outlets, either in Morocco or abroad.
Candidates must be Moroccan nationals with a minimum of three years of professional experience in national or regional media outlets and must hold a valid press card for the current year. They must not be members of the organizing committee or the jury, and they should not have been awarded the prize in the last three years. Applications can be submitted either individually or collectively.
Each application should only pertain to one work per category, except for the photography category, where candidates may submit up to ten works. Each media outlet may nominate one journalist or team from its organization.
Eligible entries must have been published or broadcast in national or regional media between October 1, 2023, and the end of September 2024. Online media outlets must keep the submissions available on their websites until the announcement of the winners.
Submissions should be delivered to the prize organizing committee’s secretariat at the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication’s Department of Communication, located at Avenue Allal El Fassi, Al Irfane, Rabat, along with the application form, which can be downloaded from the website “www.mjcc.gov.ma,” from October 1-20, 2024.
