The 15th El Jadida Horse Show kicked off on Monday at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park and will run until October 6, 2024. Morocco’s Prince Moulay Rachid presided over the opening ceremony of the event under the theme “Horse farming in Morocco: Innovation and Challenge.”
The El Jadida Horse Show has become a key platform for exchanges among equine stakeholders, showcasing Morocco’s rich equine cultural heritage and the horse’s multifaceted roles in sports, culture, and festivities.
The show highlights the significance of the horse in Morocco’s history and cultural identity. Sponsored by the Horse Show Association, the El Jadida Horse Show has gained national and international recognition, offering a diverse program of scientific, cultural, and entertaining activities.
Competitions and exhibitions include the Champion Barb Horses Cup, the Champion Arab-Barb Horses Cup, the International Arab Purebred Show, and the Grand Prix of King Mohammed VI for Show Jumping and Traditional Equestrian Arts, known locally as “Tbourida.”
Cultural and scientific aspects will also be covered through numerous conferences, workshops, and activities aimed at young audiences.
Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE) welcomed the Prince. Minister of Agriculture Mohammed Sadiki, Governor of Casablanca-Settat Mohamed Mhidia, and other officials greeted the Prince.
At the exhibition hall entrance, Moulay Rachid met with various dignitaries, including UAE Ambassador Saeed Ahmed Al Dhaheri and representatives from equestrian organizations.
The Prince toured different areas of the show dedicated to sponsors, institutions, breeders, and regional crafts. He attended performances, artistic shows, and equestrian displays by both Moroccan and foreign riders.
At the Tbourida arena, he watched fantasia performances featuring 18 Sorbas (traditional horseback riders) from various regions of Morocco.
