The summer season of 2024 recorded a notable increase in traffic on Morocco’s national highway network, with peak volumes frequently exceeding 700,000 vehicles per day, the Moroccan Company of Highways (ADM) reported in a statement on Monday.
The latest traffic figures indicate that the average daily volume during regular periods was approximately 400,000 vehicles, representing a 6% increase compared to the summer of 2023.
“The deployment of ADM teams in full vigilance throughout the summer season, along with the implementation of various technological solutions such as the ‘Jawaz’ toll system, significantly contributed to managing heavy traffic,” ADM stated.
The company said that its measures ensured a safe and comfortable journey on the national highway network for over two million travelers per day.
Its “full-vigilance” program included proactive measures such as infrastructure preparedness and an increase in personnel assigned to traffic management and assistance.
ADM also implemented reactive measures, such as enhanced communication and coordination with drivers as well as all stakeholders involved in highway operations, the statement reported.
ADM’s “Twehechnakom” operation welcomed and facilitated the secure and seamless return of membets of Morocco’s diaspora to their home country. The operation also managed increased traffic during the peak summer season successfully, according to the company.
