Walid Regragui, head coach of Morocco’s national football team, the Atlas Lions, unveiled the 25-player lineup for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers against the Central African Republic, on Thursday, at the Mohammed VI Complex in Salé.
Regragui’s squad features both experienced players and emerging talents. Notable selections include star defender Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Noussair Mazraoui from Manchester United, as well as star goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, currently playing for Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
The Moroccan international players, Hakim Ziyech playing for Turkey’s Galatasaray, and Brahim Díaz with the Spanish club Real Madrid, will be missing the two upcoming matches due to injuries.
Despite automatically securing a spot as the host nation, Morocco demonstrated its dominance in its opening qualifying matches. The Atlas Lions earned a resounding 4-1 victory against Gabon, followed by a narrow 1-0 win against Lesotho.
The matches are scheduled for October 12 and 15 at the Stade d’Honneur in Oujda.
