The speakers of Morocco’s Lower and Upper Houses announced on Saturday that the Moroccan Parliament will hold a joint session next Tuesday to hear French President Emmanuel Macron’s speech. The session is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall of the lower house.
In a joint press release, both Speakers called on all members of Parliament to attend the session, during which President Macron will address Parliament as part of his upcoming official visit to Morocco starting Monday.
Morocco’s Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery announced earlier this week that President Macron and his wife, First Lady Brigitte Macron, have accepted King Mohammed VI’s invitation and will make a two-day state visit to Morocco from October 28 to 30.
France officially recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara on Throne Day in July.
The recognition followed several countries acknowledging Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, led by the United States as part of the Abraham Accords in December 2020.
