Morocco touted its expertise in integrating human rights protections into best business practices at the inaugural Arab States dialogue on business and human rights held Monday in Doha, Qatar, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
During the opening session, Mohamed Adi, Director of Coordination and Human Rights Advocacy at Morocco’s Ministry of Human Rights, highlighted the kingdom’s strong support for human rights in business, grounded in the royal directives of King Mohammed VI.
Held under the theme “Charting the Course for Responsible Business Practices in the Arab States Region,” the international meeting is sponsored by Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in collaboration with the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions, the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
The agenda includes discussions on access to effective remedies for rights holders, the role of micro, small, and medium enterprises in fostering responsible business practices, and the impact of business and human rights regulations on the region’s trade, investment, just transition, and sustainable development goals, Qatar’s News Agency reported.
