United Airlines inaugurated its first direct flight between Newark Liberty International Airport just outside New York City and Marrakech Menara Airport. The maiden flight touched down in Marrakech on Friday.
The new route is the first and only nonstop connection between the U.S. and Marrakech. It will operate three times a week on a seasonal basis to meet the growing demand of American travelers for North African destinations.
United is now the only carrier offering direct flights between Marrakech and New York.
The Marrakech route is part of United’s wider expansion strategy in Africa and beyond. United currently operates several routes to Africa, including flights from Newark and Washington D.C. to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Accra, and Lagos, and has plans to add a direct route from Washington D.C. to Dakar in May 2025.
