Moroccan director, producer, and distributor Iman Al-Misbahi will serve as a juror during the official competition of the VS-FILM Very Short Film Festival that will take place on November 3-7 in Ain Sokhna, Egypt. The festival celebrates ultra-short films and features a lineup of international jurors.
Al-Misbahi, who began her career with the 1984 short film Water Marks at the age of 20, is a prominent figure in Moroccan cinema.
Her career includes a string of impactful films made between 1985 and 1988 that examine women’s lives and societal roles. They include A Woman Wants a Divorce, A Woman and the Tight Dress, A Woman Without a Man, and House of the Wind.
The jury also includes Ghada Jabara, President of Egypt’s Academy of Arts, Arsine Arkelian from Armenia’s Jarvian Academy, Saudi Cinema Association CEO Hani Al-Mulla, and Iraqi writer and screenwriter Hamid Al-Maliki.
In addition to the competition, the festival will feature numerous film screenings, workshops, panel discussions, and master classes led by renowned filmmakers from around the globe, to support and inspire new talent in the short-film genre.
