“Tekever,” a provider of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), signed a partnership with “Droneway,” a distributor of civil and tactical drones across Morocco and North Africa at the 2024 Marrakech Air Show. The agreement aims to make Morocco a prominent player in the drone industry through significant investment, technology transfer, and localized support.
Formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the agreement outlines Tekever’s commitment to establish a post-sales office in Morocco and to back a range of key initiatives including industrial projects, a drone-testing platform, training programs, assembly lines, and comprehensive maintenance and logistical support.
The initiatives are expected to grow as Moroccan government incentives align under Law 10-20, which governs investment in defense and security equipment, allowing access to airspace and facilitating industrial expansion.
“This partnership will prove critical in establishing Morocco as the African leader in drone technologies,” Outlet UAS weekly quoted Ricardo Mendes, CEO of Tekever as saying. The CEO noted that Droneway shares Tekever’s commitment to using “cutting-edge technology to minimize risks in complex missions and highlights Tekever’s reputation as a trusted partner for governments and security agencies worldwide.”
In addition to infrastructure and support, Droneway will gain access to Tekever’s advanced suite of UAS, including the AR3, AR4, AR5, and ARX models, as well as ATLAS, a sophisticated data and intelligence interface.
The lineup enables a wide range of capabilities suited for both civilian and military applications, from surveillance and reconnaissance to mapping and data analysis. The goal is to establish an end-to-end drone program that addresses Morocco’s security and defense needs while ensuring workforce development and knowledge transfer within the Moroccan sector.
Droneway’s CEO, Yassine Qammous, underscored the collaboration’s importance for Morocco. “As a proudly Moroccan company, we understand the unique challenges and opportunities of our region while operating at international excellence levels,” he said.
