At the opening of Moulay Ismail University’s Cultural Week, entitled “The Moroccan Sahara: From Management to Change,” Yahaya Mohamed Iliassa, the Union of Comoros’ Ambassador to Morocco, highlighted global support for Morocco’s territorial integrity. He said that the Autonomy Plan continues to gain traction across Africa, the Middle East, and the West.
Guinea-Bissau’s ambassador, Filomena Mascarenhas Tipote, praised the transformative projects in Morocco’s southern provinces, highlighting the port of Dakhla as a key development turning these regions into internationally recognized economic hubs. She reaffirmed Guinea-Bissau’s “unwavering support” for Morocco’s sovereignty.
Djibouti’s Ambassador, Mohamed Douhour Hersi, highlighted his country’s commitment to Morocco by establishing a consulate in Dakhla in 2020, strengthening bilateral ties and shared development goals.
The week-long event is intended to promote academic advocacy, historical research, and socio-economic discussions on the Sahara issue. Panels, roundtables, and workshops will highlight Morocco’s efforts toward unification and encourage youth participation in supporting national territorial integrity.
